To be filed

File documents, tasks, and time entries without a matter to the correct matter.

Nederlandse versie: /handleiding/nog-te-koppelen

What is this? To be filed contains work that has not yet been assigned to a regular matter. The page has Documents, Tasks, and Hours tabs. You only see items you may read and matters for which you may update the relevant item.

File an item to a matter

  1. Open To be filed in the left rail.
  2. Choose Documents, Tasks, or Hours.
  3. Find the correct row. Documents show fields including Subject, Type, Relation, and Created. The task and hour lists also provide the usual filters and pagination.
  4. Click File to matter on the row.
  5. In Matter, type the number or name of the target matter and select the search result.
  6. Click File. The row leaves To be filed and now belongs to the selected matter.

The search only returns matters for which you have the required permission. If there is no result, check the search term or ask an administrator whether you have access to that matter.

What is different on each tab?

Documents

Documents to be filed contains documents that are already in Basenet but not yet in a regular matter. A related Relation can be opened from the row. Filing moves the document to the selected matter; it does not make a copy.

Tasks

Tasks to be filed shows fields including Status, Description, Start date, Due date, and Relation. After filing, the task appears with the matter for the matter team to follow up.

Hours

Hours to be filed shows fields including Date, Description, Worked, and Relation. A time entry that billing has already locked cannot be moved to another matter; Basenet then reports: “This time entry is locked and cannot be filed to another matter.”

When the list is empty

There is no work to file means that no items visible to you are waiting on the selected tab. Check the other two tabs when relevant.
